GRAY SUMMIT — The Visitor Center at Purina Farms, which was extensively damaged by a March 14 tornado, will not be able to open this year, a Purina spokesman announced Thursday.
However, the Event Center suffered less damage and will be open for the season as usual. The Event Center is where the dog shows and other events are held.
The March storm did not harm any employees or animals.
The battered Visitor Center includes the Education Barn, Pet Adoption Center and Incredible Dog Arena.
"We are reviewing plans for the future of the impacted areas," the spokesman said in a statement.
A tornado warning means that a radar-detected tornado or confirm, on the ground, tornado is in your area. When the alert goes off, seek shelter immediately. Get to a sturdy building. Once there, find a room away from windows and on the lowest floor possible, a basement is best. Put jackets or sweaters above your head and crouch to protect yourself from projectiles.
