Actor Morgan Freeman is bringing the life of Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Chuck Berry to the screen.
Freeman and Lori McCreary production company, Revelations Entertainment, optioned the rights to Berry’s life story to create a scripted drama series.
The production company is collaborating with the Berry family on the series, hoping to share the music icon’s story with a worldwide audience. They announced the upcoming series on Oct. 18, the musician’s 98th birthday.
“Chuck Berry was more than a musical legend — he was a revolutionary spirit whose influence shaped the course of modern music and culture.†Freeman and McCreary said in a joint statement. “Together, we want to ensure that Chuck’s spirit continues to inspire future generations, reminding the world of the indelible mark he left on us all.â€

The series announcement is just one way Berry is being posthumously honored as his 100th birthday approaches in 2026. Berry died in 2017.
The multi-year CHUCK100 campaign is bringing an array of tribute events, fresh music releases and pop-up events to ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ leading up to the 100th anniversary of Berry’s birth on Oct. 18, 2026. The campaign kicked off its two-year celebration of Berry’s legacy with the Chuck Berry House activation at Evolution Fest last month.
Berry’s wife, Themetta Berry, says her family is excited to partner with Revelation to share the musician’s story.
“Morgan and Lori’s track record of bringing important stories to the screen in a way that is genuine and authentic compelled me to work with them,†Themetta says.
Revelations has a track record of producing narratives about the biggest names in history. It produced the 2002 film “Invictus,†a sports biopic starring Freeman and Matt Damon about Nelson Mandela using the 1995 Rugby World Cup to unite South Africans.
The company’s series about Berry intends to showcase his life, beginning with his childhood growing up in ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½.
