CLAYTON • Economic Partnership announced Friday the appointment of Sheila Sweeney as the chief executive officer of the joint agency promoting business growth in أغر؟´«أ½ and .
Sweeney has served as interim director of the partnership since June.
She was selected at end of a national search to succeed Denny Coleman, who retired this summer after a combined 25 years at the helm of the أغر؟´«أ½ County Economic Council and its successor, the city-county coalition formed in 2013.
“We looked all over the country and realized the best candidate was right here in أغر؟´«أ½,†Dee Joyner, the chair of the Economic Development Partnership board, said in a written statement.

A real estate developer, Sweeney is the founder and president of S.M. Sweeney and Co.
Sweeney served as chair of the County Economic Council as well as the أغر؟´«أ½ County Port Authority.

Slay in the statement released by the Partnership predicted Sweeney will build “on a strong foundation of positioning أغر؟´«أ½ to compete as a region to continue the momentum of landing big projects like Ikea, Square, and Boeing.â€
Stenger in the same statement said Sweeney will “bring the expertise and business acumen we need to continue to grow our local economy and help create jobs across the region.â€
