MANCHESTER • A company that has held two successful electronic recycling events in Manchester in the past seven months will extend the service to monthly beginning in July.
The Board of Aldermen agreed on Monday night to the proposal offered by RNA Worldwide. The firm is based in Arnold.
Drive-through recycling will be held monthly on Saturday mornings at the city's Schroeder Park, probably 8 to 11 a.m. The early hour is designed to avoid conflicts with the swim program at the park. The schedule will be made final soon and announced on the city's website and elsewhere.
Metals, computers, appliances, electronics (including televisions) will be the main items accepted, and the service will be environmentally sound, and meet government regulations, said RNA's chief operating officer Scottie Farrow, of Manchester.

Noting the collection of more than 200,000 pounds of recyclables at the two Manchester events, Farrow presented a $500 donation to the city program that honors 50-year residents.
Also Monday, the board voted to use its next federal block grant for its home improvement program, as it has for years. A total of $24,300 will be available. About eight homes are improved annually through low-cost or forgivable loans.
