COLUMBIA, Mo. — Missouri quarterback Drew Pyne has entered the transfer portal, taking one signal-caller out of the competition for the Tigers’ starting job in 2025.
Pyne entered the portal Tuesday, a source familiar with his decision told the Post-Dispatch, and was able to do so outside of a traditional entry window because he is a graduate student. On3 first reported Pyne’s entry.
Pyne, who will have one year of eligibility remaining, transferred to Mizzou a year ago to back up starter Brady Cook. He wound up appearing in six games, playing significant roles in three after Cook was hurt.
In a 34-0 loss at Alabama, Pyne struggled mightily, throwing three interceptions on 12 passes. He played well enough to win a rocky game against Oklahoma the following week, which was the last action he saw for MU.
Pyne, along with Penn State transfer Beau Pribula and reserve Sam Horn, was expected to compete for the starting job this season after Cook exhausted his eligibility. Cook has declared for the NFL draft later this month.
