COLUMBIA, Mo. — Missouri defensive end Jahkai Lang plans to enter the transfer portal when it opens next week, taking a player out of one of the deepest positions on the Tigers’ roster.
Lang, a Troy Buchanan product, was part of Mizzou’s D-end rotation last season. He recorded nine quarterback pressures and two sacks.
He confirmed his intent to enter the portal in a social media post Wednesday afternoon.
Lang was likely to be part of MU’s deep group of edge rushers in 2025, a room that could see six or seven players see game action. Missouri’s coaching staff is happy with the depth there, but the sheer number of players worthy of playing time at defensive end was likely to produce one or two departures during the spring window.
Lang will be the second Mizzou player to depart this spring after backup quarterback Drew Pyne transferred away to Bowling Green last week.

Coach Eli Drinkwitz said Tuesday he expects upwards of eight players to depart via the portal, barring any surprises. A defensive end like Lang leaving is unlikely to count as much of a surprise, and he may not be the only player at that position to do so.
Lang will have three seasons of eligibility remaining after redshirting during his freshman season in 2023.
The spring transfer portal window opens for football players April 16.
