As reported earlier, for this time of year. MU has sold 22,919 season ticket packages to the general public and 4,856 student ticket packages as of Wednesday, department spokesman Nick Joos confirmed.
The general public figure is down about 15 percent from this time last year, when MU had sold 26,950 tickets. The student sales are up 114 percent from last year at this time (2,260). This year’s student sales have already surpassed last year’s final sales figure of 3,008. Overall, MU's sales (public and students) are down about 5 percent from this time last year.
However, single-game ticket sales have been robust this summer. Last year at this time, MU had sold 1,346 single-game tickets. This year, thanks to the newly hired outbound ticket sales group, that figure is already 11,606 as of this week.

Why the surge in student sales? This year, student football ticket packages are tethered to student basketball ticket packages. As you’d expect, basketball ticket sales have exploded this offseason. Thus, student football ticket sales are up, too. Mizzou expects to surpass last year's ticket sales totals for student packages.Â

Last year, in the wake of the 2015 player boycott and Gary Pinkel's retirement, season ticket sales fell by 19.5 percent in 2016 overall, 15.6 percent among the general public and 32.2 percent among students.Â
As of this week, MU has sold 5,105 general public basketball season tickets. That’s already passed last year’s final figure (4,434), an uptick of 15 percent. MU has sold 4,856 student season tickets for basketball, an increase of 61.4 percent from last year’s final figure (3,008). Mizzou continues to take requests from its wait list for season tickets and will keep selling student tickets.
